Privacy Policy
How Seoteric collects, uses, stores and discloses your personal information, and the rights you have under Australian privacy law.
Last updated 8 August 2026
1. Who we are
Seoteric (ABN 34 889 338 495) is a sole trader based in New South Wales, Australia (“Seoteric”, “we”, “us” or “our”). We provide an AI-powered SEO analysis platform at seoteric.app.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the thirteen Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in it. This policy explains how we do that, and applies to our website and to the Seoteric application.
2. Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address and a hashed version of your password. We never store your password in a readable form.
Website information. For each site you add, we collect the site name, domain, country, industry, your stated SEO objective, and optionally a business location including its approximate latitude and longitude. This is business information, but it can identify a sole trader, so we treat it as personal information where it does.
Content you provide. Chat messages you send to the AI agent, notes and “memories” you save against a site, and any content you paste into the product.
Integration data. If you connect a third-party account such as Webflow, we store an encrypted access token, the account or site identifiers you authorise, and the scopes you granted. We do not receive your password for that service.
Billing information. Your plan, billing cycle and usage counts. Payments are processed by Polar as merchant of record — we do not collect or store your card number.
Technical information. IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and approximate location derived from IP, collected through our hosting and analytics providers for security and product measurement.
3. How we collect it
We collect most information directly from you, when you sign up, add a site, or use the product. Some information is collected automatically as you browse, and some is collected from third parties — for example from Webflow when you authorise an integration, from Polar when a payment succeeds or fails, and from SEO data providers when we look up public information about a domain you have added.
Where it is lawful and practicable, you can deal with us anonymously or using a pseudonym. In practice, we cannot provide an account or a site audit without an email address and a domain.
4. Why we use it
- To create and administer your account and authenticate you.
- To run SEO audits, generate recommendations and answer your questions about the sites you add.
- To bill you, apply plan limits and keep usage records.
- To provide support and respond to your enquiries.
- To secure the service, detect abuse and meet our legal obligations.
- To understand how the product is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose it for another organisation’s direct marketing.
5. AI processing of your content
Seoteric is built on large language models. When you chat with the agent or run an audit, the relevant content — your messages, your site details, and the public page content we retrieved — is sent to our AI providers so a response can be generated. We select providers whose commercial terms do not permit customer content to be used to train their models.
AI output can be wrong. Please do not paste passwords, financial details, health information, government identifiers or other sensitive information into the chat.
6. Who we disclose it to
We use the service providers below to run Seoteric. They may access personal information only to perform their function for us.
| Provider | Purpose | Where data may be handled |
|---|---|---|
| Neon | Application database hosting | United States |
| Vercel | Website and application hosting, product analytics, AI request routing | United States |
| Polar | Subscription billing and payment processing (merchant of record) | United States / European Union |
| Anthropic, OpenAI | AI models that generate audit findings and chat responses | United States |
| DataForSEO | Search ranking, backlink and keyword data for the domains you add | United States / European Union |
| ScrapingBee | Retrieving the public pages of the domains you add for analysis | European Union |
| Google (PageSpeed Insights) | Core Web Vitals and performance measurement | United States |
| Webflow | Optional integration, only where you connect a Webflow account | United States |
We may also disclose personal information where required or authorised by law, to protect our legal rights, or to a buyer in connection with the sale or restructure of our business.
7. Overseas disclosure
As the table above shows, some of our providers store or process personal information outside Australia, principally in the United States and the European Union. Before disclosing personal information overseas we take reasonable steps, as required by APP 8, to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles — including through contractual commitments in our agreements with them.
8. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to protect the service from automated abuse. We also use Vercel Analytics to measure page views and traffic sources; it is designed to be privacy-friendly and does not use cookies to track you across other websites.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but you will not be able to stay signed in to Seoteric if you block ours.
9. How we keep it secure
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include encryption in transit, encryption of third-party integration tokens at rest, access controls on our production systems, and choosing reputable infrastructure providers.
No online service can be completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us at support@seoteric.app immediately.
10. Data breaches
We maintain a data breach response plan. If a data breach is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme in Part IIIC of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
11. How long we keep it
We keep your account information and site data for as long as your account is open. If you delete a site, its audits, chats and memories are deleted with it. If you close your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 90 days, except where we must keep records to meet a legal obligation — for example, financial records we are required to retain for seven years under Australian tax law.
12. Accessing and correcting your information
You can view and correct most of your information directly in the product, from your account and site settings. Under APP 12 and APP 13 you may also ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Write to support@seoteric.app and we will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for making a request. If we refuse access or correction, we will tell you why in writing.
13. Marketing
We may send you product updates and occasional marketing emails. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link that works, as required by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). You cannot opt out of service emails such as billing receipts, security notices and changes to these terms while you hold an account.
14. Children
Seoteric is a business tool and is not directed at children. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 16 without parental consent, we will delete it.
15. Complaints
If you think we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, contact us first at support@seoteric.app. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, by phone on 1300 363 992, or by writing to GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with its effective date. If we make a material change, we will tell you by email or in the product before it takes effect.
